Spring Top Week

Indygo Junction's Over the Top Tunic is everything I love in a pattern.. almost too much to wish for. Perfect fit right out of the envelope, no adjustments necessary. Very few pattern pieces. Classic shaping. Easy to make, comfortable as a pair of PJs. Can be made as dressy, casual or funky as you want... simply by choosing different fabrics & details.

Like many of you, I'm not keen on matchy-matchy. Far more interesting to pair the unexpected for a more interesting result. For this project, I looked to my stash. Easy enough, I've got a metric ton of the stuff. For the tunic body, I selected fabric I'd bought maybe a year ago, in a small town a couple hours from here. For the trim, not so easy. Finally decided on an odd piece of stash fabric bought over the internet...last Sept... on a whim.

Getting ready to blog about my Spring Top entries, I made an amazing discovery: these two fabrics were from A Collection. Good grief. My uncanny ability to mix and match a couple of random fabrics from a gigantic pile? Heh. In the big cosmic scheme of things, these prints were Made For Each Other. Kudos for artistic savvy goes to Renee Nanneman of Need'l Love.
